Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan and prepare for installation of extra low voltage wiring
- Plan and prepare installation to ensure policies and procedures are followed, and the work is appropriately sequenced according to requirements
- Consult with appropriate personnel to ensure the work is co-ordinated effectively with others on the work site
- Size cables and wires to suit calculated load
- Check wiring system components against job requirements
- Source accessories according to established procedures and to comply with organisational and task requirements
- Determine location in which specific items of accessories, apparatus and circuits are to be installed from job requirements
- Obtain materials necessary to complete the work according to established procedures and checked against the job requirement
- Source tools, equipment and testing devices needed to carry out the installation work, checked for correct operation and safety
- Check preparatory work to ensure that it complies with requirements and no unnecessary damage has occurred
- Install wiring systems
- Follow work health and safety policies and procedures for installing electrical wiring systems
- Install wiring systems to meet requirements without damage or distortion to the surrounding environment or services
- Terminate accessories and connect wire as required to solenoids and controllers, according to manufacturer and enterprise requirements
- Respond to unplanned events or conditions using established procedures
- Obtain approval from appropriate personnel according to established procedures before any contingencies are implemented
- Undertake on-going checks of the quality of the work according to established procedures
- Check and notify completion of work
